Media concentration affects democracy says Atilio Boron

They predict sustained growth in tourism in Egypt

According to the analysis, around 11.5 million visitors will come to the country in 2023, a number that will increase to 13 million in 2024, 13.5 million in 2025 and 14 million in 2026.

The sustained increase in the medium term is due to the expected decrease in the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, he stressed.

Recently, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said announced that the government will invest nearly $300 million in tourism in the current fiscal year 2022-2023 to boost the sector.

He noted that the number of tourists has increased from 3.7 million in 2020, a year marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, to eight million in 2021.

Revenue also increased to $9.0 billion from $4.1 billion.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in mid-September that the state aims to double the sector’s revenues to $30 billion a year.

So-called chimney-free industry accounted for up to 15 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product before the Covid-19 pandemic, according to official figures.

In 2019, the country’s more than 13.1 million visitors generated sales of $13 billion.
