Former National Hockey League (NHL) forward Loui Eriksson is unhappy with his time in Sweden’s Svenska Hockeyligan (SHL).
The 37-year-old joined Frölunda HC, his home club, in 2022/23. The organization recently announced that it would not offer Eriksson a new contract and that the whole thing with the client concerned would not come about.

“I’m really disappointed with my performance,” the hockey player told Swedish daily Expressen. It was very clear to me what Frölunda means to me. I would have always given 110%. I accept his decision and wish the team the best of luck, but that doesn’t mean I respect his decision.
“I was really motivated for another season, but they wanted to go in a different direction.”
In his only season at Frölunda HC, Eriksson netted 11 times and provided eight assists for 19 points in 34 regular-season games. He picked up seven points in 13 playoff games.
It was Eriksson’s first season outside the NHL since the 2012 lockout. The Swede has played for the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and Coyotes Arizona in the top hockey league in the world.
