A man looking for gold has set up camp in a public park in Seattle, USA, and built a “mine” there.
Homeless man Steven Irwin, 41, is already facing criminal charges for using a stolen excavator to excavate part of the same park in October 2023, local media KOMO News reported.
Mr. Irwin is said to be convinced of the presence of gold and diamonds in the park's hills. Of course, there are no such gems in this Seattle public park.
He claims that this time he had permission to build his camp. The latter is now equipped with several generators, fireplaces, propane heaters, a washing machine and even a treadmill.
This installation was described as a “time bomb” in an interview with KOMO News by a spokesperson for We Heart Seattle, an organization that helps the homeless. The latter is concerned about Mr. Irwin's safety.
Several angry neighbors said in the media that they had unsuccessfully called on the police to intervene for several months.
