Three men died in a fiery crash in Stoneham on Tuesday evening in which speed may have played a role.

The tragic event occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Talbot Boulevard near Chemin du Manoir. The vehicle was traveling northbound when the driver lost control.
The man driving the car was trapped inside after swerving violently. In order to free him from his predicament, rescue pliers were required. His two passengers were thrown outside.

“They were probably not wearing a seatbelt,” emphasizes Béatrice Dorsainville, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The three people, aged between fifty and sixty, were pronounced dead at the scene. The three men, whose identities we do not yet know, had already died before help arrived.

According to state police, speed could play a role in this case. However, the investigation continues to determine whether other elements may be involved, Ms Dorsainville says.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Talbot Boulevard, which was closed overnight, reopened to traffic around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
