Thunderstorm drives audience away from Engenhão lawn at The Weeknd show G1

A thunderstorm interrupts The Weeknd’s show and the audience is removed from the lawn

The mobilization period in Rio de Janeiro due to rain and strong winds also affected the audience waiting for the start of The Weeknd’s show at the Engenhão Stadium this Saturday (7).

The venue was hit by a thunderstorm and the event’s production team temporarily suspended procedures for the start of the presentation, scheduled for 9 p.m., to avoid any accidents.

The public who were on the lawn were removed from the area to avoid electrical discharges. The forecast for return to the pitch is 30 minutes and the reopening of the North Sector and South Sector in 45 minutes.

Spectators in the stands were not required to leave the field (see video above), as security protocol for such situations only recommends doing so Do not stay in open, open areassuch as pastures, football pitches, lakes and beaches.

Singer The Weeknd is scheduled to perform at Engenhão at 9 p.m. He will also perform in São Paulo on Tuesday (10th) and Wednesday (11th).

At 8:40 p.m., the audience was allowed to return to the lawn to sit and wait for the show to begin, as announced by North Zone Deputy Mayor Diego Vaz.
