Environment Canada has issued a special weather forecast for several areas, calling for snow and difficult road conditions early in the week, particularly as drivers have not yet installed their winter tires.
“As this is the first snow of the season, travel on certain sections of the road may be difficult,” the federal agency also announced on its website.
In the Greater Montreal area, slushy snow with a mix of rain is forecast with temperatures of 5 degrees, while in areas of western Quebec the snow will end in the morning with a snow accumulation of 2 centimeters in Outaouais and Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Accumulations will be larger in certain areas in the center and east of the province such as Charlevoix, Saguenay, Beauce and Bas-Saint-Laurent, where 5 to 10 centimeters of snow is expected on Monday.
According to the federal agency, snow will accumulate in mountainous terrain in Quebec and Estrie, leaving a white layer of 5 millimeters in cold temperatures of 1 degree and 5 degrees, respectively.
On Tuesday the sun returns to most areas, particularly in the south and center of the province, but temperatures remain cold and will not exceed 4 degrees in Montreal and 2 degrees in Quebec.
