According to the report by the British Center for Economic and Business Studies (CEBR), China's gross domestic product (GDP), measured at exchange rates, will surpass the same index of the United States in 2037.
In their forecasts published this Tuesday, CEBR experts assume that the conflict between China and Taiwan will neither break out nor that Beijing “will have to expect sanctions from the West and other countries” in response.
“The projections also show that China's time at the top is likely to be limited, while the US is expected to have a GDP 45% higher than China by 2100,” the report said.
Additionally, India is projected to be the world's largest economy after 2080, surpassing both China and the US, “based on demographic estimates and forecasts.” According to the forecast By the end of the century, its GDP will be 90% higher than that of China and 30% higher than that of the United States.
Taking purchasing power parity into account, China's GDP already exceeded that of the United States in 2014.
