Tragedy at company party: CEO dies in spectacular accident oe24

A fatal incident occurred at a party for Vistex, an Illinois-based software and services company.

Sanjay Shah, the 56-year-old CEO of the company, wanted to be lowered onto the stage in an iron cage in an impressive act along with Vishwanath Raju Datla, the chairman. The show ends tragically: a wire breaks and the cage falls four meters deep. Shah dies, Datla is seriously injured in hospital.

Accident during birthday celebration in India

The ceremony was held at Ramoji Film City, India, to celebrate Vistex's 25th anniversary. Employees were supposed to celebrate for two days at the famous movie studio complex. The accident occurred at the opening of the celebrations, when Shah and Datla were supposed to be spectacularly lowered onto the stage.

The police are investigating

A video of the incident shows one of the men falling head first to the ground. Although the broken wire is considered the most likely cause of the accident, police have launched an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.

Sanjay Shah: The self-made man

Shah, who hails from Mumbai and made his career in the US, was considered a classic self-made man. After graduating from Lehigh University, he worked for well-known companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and General Motors. He later founded Vistex and expanded the company into a global player. With more than 20 offices around the world and clients such as Coca-Cola and Yamaha, he leaves a legacy of success.
