Eight people riding a carousel at a festival in Crandon, Wisconsin, stayed upside down for hours Sunday awaiting rescue, according to witnesses who filmed the scene.
“All we know is that the ride had a mechanical failure and got stuck in an upright position,” Crandon Fire Service Captain Brennan Cook said in an interview with WJFW. -TV.
The Forest County Festival’s fireball ride reportedly got stuck in the top part of a circle on Sunday, leaving seat occupants upside down for at least three hours, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
In a series of videos we can see the group of eight people patiently awaiting rescue while the witness describes the situation. However, according to him, it took more than an hour before the rescuers tried to intervene on the carousel.
“What I heard from one of the police officers is that they have to grind down a piece of metal steel that’s kind of a safety switch that stops the machine up there. once that’s done, [le wagon] will drop 2 to 3 feet and the operator should be able to hydraulically release everything,” Scott Brass said on Facebook while filming the scene.
However, since the rescuers were unable to release the car, they began using a ladder to pull each person out one by one.
“They should have started an hour ago,” we can hear the witness sigh, who in his release states that the last rescued spent more than four hours upside down.
The eight people would have been transported to a hospital center for examination.
