Troubled Beauty and the Geek star seeks rehab treatment

Former Beauty and the Geek star Jordan Finlayson is on her way to rehab to treat her drug problem after pleading guilty to assaulting her brother-in-law.

According to news.com.au, the 31-year-old recently completed a three-week rehabilitation program over Christmas and her psychologist has recommended she continue treatment at a beachside psychiatric facility in Sydney.

Deputy Chief Justice Sharon Freund agreed, confirming Ms Finlayson had improved.

“For the first time, she’s really committed,” she said. “And she’s making some really positive moves, which is fabulous.”

Ms Finlayson faced a range of charges over the past year, including two counts of mutual assault, an established warrant for violence and possession of identity information with intent to commit fraud.

Last September, the ex-NRL cheerleader found herself before a judge again, this time pleading guilty to assault at Sydney’s Downing Center Local Court.

Finlayson had been living in a house in Botany with her sister, brother-in-law, their two children and their father in February last year, according to a police filing seen by News.

She had just been released from two years and three months in prison in late 2021 – and her family forced her to agree to a set of “rules” if she were to live with them, including not bringing anyone they don’t know into the house.

Last year on Valentine’s Day, February 14, the Beauty and the Geek star brought her boyfriend to her house and hid him in her room.

Court documents say the family had a surveillance camera at the front of the home and they knew an unidentified man had entered.

The next day Finlayson’s sister asked her if the man was still there and she said “no”.

A few hours later her brother-in-law asked if the man was still there. She said “no” again, but her sister came into the room and found the boyfriend hiding under the bed.

The man was “seriously affected by illegal drugs,” according to court documents.

The adults then got into an argument, with the sister telling the boyfriend to “get out of this house” before the former model became involved.

Finlayson berated her sister and yelled at her, “Fuck off you fat bitch”.

The brother-in-law then intervened to calm the two sisters before Finlayson took a glass of juice and threw it at his head, according to court documents.

She hit him just above the right eye before running and hiding in her bedroom. Her sister then dragged her out of the house by her hair.

Three days later, police were told Finlayson was back at the house with her boyfriend, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants and for alleged malicious assault.

Officers broke into the south Sydney home and arrested the former NRL cheerleader and her partner.

Finlayson was released on bail and was due to appear in court six days later, but was arrested the day before her hearing and put back behind bars with bail revoked.

She appeared at the Downing Center and initially planned to fight the charges, but decided to plead guilty to one charge of assault.

Her lawyer, Daniel Grippi, said it was clear she was suffering from a serious drug addiction, adding that every court she faced recommended she be sent to rehab.

Finlayson was a 2014 cheerleader for NRL clubs Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers and the Sydney Kings basketball team.

She rose to fame briefly in 2011 as the runner-up beauty on Season 3 of Beauty and the Geek.

She and the season’s “geek,” Lachlan Cosgrove, began dating after the show ended, but broke up ten months later.

In 2013, she became the face of Australian cult brand Chiko Rolls for an advertising campaign.

Producers of The Bachelor expressed interest in putting her on the show as a contestant, but Finlayson declined.
