Tupac Shakur Murder: Man Arrested in Las Vegas and Charged with Murder

A man accused of ordering the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996 has been arrested in Las Vegas.

Will the mystery of Tupac’s death soon be solved? Las Vegas police arrested a man Friday accused of ordering the killing of the famous rapper, who was shot to death in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996.

According to the Associated Press, Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been indicted by a Nevada grand jury on murder charges, prosecutors announced in court Friday. Assistant District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said a grand jury had been empaneled in the case for “several months.” The judge described the defendant as the one who “ordered the death” of Tupac Shakur.

Duane Davis, in his 60s, has long been in the crosshairs of investigators. In his memoirs published in 2019, the man claimed that he was in the white Cadillac from which the shots were fired at Tupac Shakur’s car.

In July, his partner’s house was searched for this former Crips gang member from Compton, California.

The last living witness to the attack?

Duane Davis is the uncle of Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, also a member of the Crips and the main suspect in the case. The latter denied any responsibility and died in a shootout two years later. Davis presents himself as the last survivor of the four people who were in the Cadillac.

Tupac Shakur, considered one of the most influential artists in American rap, has died in full splendor at the age of just 25.

He was the main rival of Biggie Smalls, also known as Notorious BIG, a rapper who died in a shooting in Los Angeles six months later. The two men embodied the sometimes fierce rivalry between “West Coast” and “East Coast”.
