Tyler Toffoli changes his address again

The Calgary Flames traded forward Tyler Toffoli to the New Jersey Devils for forward Yegor Sharangovich and a third-round pick for 2023 on Tuesday.

Toffoli, who enters final season on a four-year contract worth $4.25 million a year, will be on his fifth career team. Before joining the Flames, he played for the Los Angeles Kings, the Vancouver Canucks and the Montreal Canadiens.

The veteran had the best offensive season of his career last year. The 31-year-old has 73 points, including 34 goals, in 82 games.

The Sportsnet network and website Daily Faceoff reported almost simultaneously last week that Toffoli has no intention of extending his stint with the Alberta team.

Sharangovich signed a two-year contract on Wednesday. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the total value of the deal is $6.2 million. The 25-year-old Belarusian was eligible for a pay settlement this summer after earning $2 million each in the previous two campaigns.

Sharangovich had 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 75 games last season, his third in the National Hockey League. Last year he excelled with 24 goals and 46 points in 76 games.
