There’s a man buying broccoli and finds a snake in it… It might sound like the start of a joke, but that’s exactly what happened in the UK to 63-year-old Neville Linton from Stourbridge in the West Midlands. The man bought a bag of broccoli from Aldi and put it in the fridge. After three days he decided to cook the broccoli, but in the bag he found a live and safe snake. So Linton decided to return to Aldi. Here the clerk initially thought it was a joke, but immediately changed his mind when he saw the snake moving. How did this story end? With a claim for damages.
phobia of snakes
“It was really scary. I’m not good with snakes,” said Mr Linton, father of three. “It’s lucky he didn’t leave the broccoli in the kitchen or he would have gone who knows where. The reptile, which is a ‘ladder snake’, was later taken to Dudley Zoo,” said the 63-year-old, who was offered compensation but is now pushing for more. The amount offered by Aldi, he explains, does not compensate him for the risk to his disabled son and mother-in-law who suffer from some diseases. In addition, Neville stated that he has a real snake phobia, so the emotional impact of the story also needs to be evaluated.
