Ukraine: Russian assault on Zaporozhye nuclear power plant filmed from inside, “you endanger the world”

Stunning footage released on Saturday shows Russia’s attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from inside the complex.

The New York Times received footage inside a nuclear power plant. Zaporozhye during the Russian assault on the night of Thursday to Friday 4 March. The attack, which resulted in several shots and a fire at the nuclear complex itself, raised fears of a major accident. Images broadcast this Saturday show the tension of the teams on site.

We hear a message in Russian for the attackers: “Stop firing at the nuclear installation (…) Stop firing immediately,” the officers plead at the moment of the attack. And warn: “You endanger the security of the whole world. The work of the most important part of the Zaporozhye power plant may be disrupted. We can’t restore it.”

After several hours of uncertainty, the premises were secured and the fire brought under control.

“Nuclear Terror”

According to the Ukrainian authorities, no plant installation was affected and nuclear safety can be guaranteed.

As they approach nuclear facilities, Russians are once again resorting to “nuclear terror,” President Zelensky said. We warn everyone that no country other than Russia has ever fired on nuclear power plants. This is the first time in our history, the first time in the history of mankind. This terrorist state is now resorting to nuclear terror,” he said.
