Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Ukraine's victory would depend on Western military aid at a time when the country was suffering failures. However, he said he was “certain” that the American Congress would ultimately approve the long-awaited envelope.

“Whether Ukraine will lose, whether the situation will be very difficult and whether there will be a lot of victims depends on you, on our partners, on the Western world,” he said during a press conference.
“If we are strong and have weapons, we will not lose this war,” he assured.

Volodymyr Zelensky expressed optimism about the American Congress's ability to pass a $60 billion aid package that is currently blocked by elected Republicans in the House of Representatives.
“I am sure (the vote) will be positive,” he assured.
Mr. Zelensky also noted that 31,000 of his soldiers had been killed in the war with Russia, giving for the first time the presidency's assessment of Ukraine's military losses.
“31,000 Ukrainian soldiers died in this war. Not 300,000, not 150,000, as Putin and his circle of liars claim. But each of these losses is a big loss for us,” he said.
Kiev and Moscow typically refuse to communicate about their respective military losses.
