  • The Ukrainian army has hit a checkpoint in Russia with mortars for the second time in days
  • But the Kursk governor says: “The firing point was quickly suppressed by return fire”
  • Kyiv said that “sooner or later the debt will have to be repaid”, referring to strikes
  • The Ministry of Defense supports Ukraine’s right to use British-made weapons against Russian targets

Ukrainian troops have hit one of Putin’s army checkpoints on Russian territory for the second day in a row.

Mortar shells hit the Krupets border post in Kursk, southwestern Russia, around 3:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. GMT) today, the region’s governor said.

In a clip posted to Telegram, Putin’s ally Roman Starovoit said several artillery shells hit the border checkpoint.

He added that no one was killed or injured in the attack and that the Ukrainian fire post was neutralized by Russian return fire.

Mr Starovoit added: “Thank God nobody was killed. I wish you all a nice evening.”

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry did not comment on the alleged attack, which has not been confirmed by outside sources.

It would be the second attack on the Krupets checkpoint in two days after Kiev forces hit the border post around 8am yesterday.

An FSB intelligence office in Bryansk was also hit by Ukrainian artillery on Friday, the region’s governor said.

AV Bogomaz wrote that no one was killed or injured by water and power grids were hit.

“A tree fell under fire in the cemetery,” added Mr. Bogomaz.

The alleged attacks follow bombings by Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Belgorod region in recent days.

Ukraine said that “sooner or later the debt will have to be repaid” after a suspected ammunition dump at army warehouses was suspected at 3.30am Wednesday.

Kyiv otherwise took no responsibility for the damage.

Air defenses were also active over the Kursk and Voronezh regions as Russia said it shot down Ukrainian drones that had entered its territory.

Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak commented on this less than indirectly: “If you decide to massively attack another country, massively kill everyone there, massively exterminate peaceful people with tanks and use warehouses in your regions to facilitate the killings, then you will sooner or later the debts have to be repaid.

“Disarming the warehouses of the Belgorod and Voronezh murderers is an absolutely natural process. Karma is a cruel thing.’

Ukraine has stepped up attacks on targets inside Russia with the apparent blessing of Western allies, including Britain.

Military Secretary James Heappey said two weeks ago: “It is perfectly legitimate for Ukraine to aim deep into Russia to disrupt logistics which, if left undisrupted, would directly contribute to death and carnage on Ukrainian soil.

“There are many countries around the world that operate kits that they imported from other countries.

“When these pieces of equipment are used, we don’t tend to blame the country that made them, rather you blame the country that fired them.”

Britain is supplying arms to Ukraine, including the Starstreak missile system and Stormer vehicles needed for transport.

Belgorod was attacked the most, with rocket attacks and a helicopter attack on fuel and ammunition stores.

A railway bridge was also attacked in the same region, which is widely suspected to be a sabotage attack by Ukrainian special forces.

Belgorod is a key base for Russian forces looking to join the fight in Ukraine’s Donbass region, where a major offensive to capture the eastern part of Ukraine is underway.

The frequency of the attacks has sparked anger in Russia, with the Kremlin threatening to step up attacks on “decision centers” in Kyiv in retaliation — a thinly veiled threat against government and military headquarters.

The Kremlin’s “Suicides”: Four Gas Chiefs and Their Suspicious Deaths

Vladislav Avayev: The Vice President of Gazprombank, 51, was found dead in his Moscow penthouse apartment on April 18 along with his wife Yelena and daughter Maria.

They were found by Avayev’s eldest daughter Anastasia with a gun in her father’s hand in the locked apartment.

Initial reports in Russia said that Yelena was pregnant by her driver and Vladislav killed her in a fit of rage.

Others have doubted this and asked why an FSB weapon was found in the apartment.

Sergey Protosenya: The £350million oligarch was found dead in Spain with his wife Natalia and daughter Maria.

He was found hanged outside their Costa Brava villa while the other two were hacked to death inside.

But investigators found no blood on Sergey, no suicide note, and no fingerprints on the gun.

Sergei’s son Fedor said his father would never harm his family.

Alexander Tyulakov: On February 25, the day after the start of the Ukraine war, the body of the senior Gazprom official was discovered by his lover.

His neck was in a noose at his £500,000 home in a luxury Leningrad estate.

He was reportedly severely beaten just before taking his own life.

Leonid Shulman: In the same guarded housing estate, three weeks earlier, Gazprom Invest’s transport manager was found dead with multiple stab wounds on his bathroom floor.

Investigators said a note was found, but they have not released its contents.

A knife was found on the bathtub, seemingly out of reach.
