An American pizza delivery boy in his 20s rescued five children when their home in Lafayette, Indiana, caught fire on July 11.
It’s a great story narrated by British media The Independent and transmitted by Ouest-France. This took place on July 11th in the city of Lafayette in the state of Indiana in the United States.
That evening, Nicholas Bostic, a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy, was driving through a city suburb at night when he saw a fire-hit home. Without a cell phone to call emergency services, he decides to enter the house.
He finds sleeping children between the ages of one and 18 there. He wakes them up and leaves the house with them. Outside, the eldest reports that one of the 6-year-old children is missing. The young man goes back inside to look for him. Everyone is finally safe and sound.
According to local television station ABC7 Chicago, the delivery man was taken to the hospital because of inhaled fumes and a lacerated arm. “I knew what I was risking. I knew that the next second could be my life,” he told American media. But every second counted.” “I’m glad I was in the right place at the right time,” he said.
The city of Lafayette paid tribute to the young man on its website. “Nicholas Bostic’s heroic actions saved lives. His selflessness during this incident is inspiring, and he impressed many with his courage, tenacity, and unwavering composure in the face of such a dangerous danger. The Lafayette Police Department and the Honorable Mayor Tony Roswarski are forever grateful to his intervention and intend to publicly reward him for his actions.” He will be honored on August 2.
