Her mistake led to a dramatic ending. Called for domestic violence on April 5, American police officers turned up at the wrong door of a home in Farmington, New Mexico, in the middle of the night. They were supposed to intervene at 5308 Valley View Avenue, but the three police officers went to 5305. They knocked on the door several times and indicated that they were from the police, video images released Friday showed.

The resident finally opened the door with a gun in his hand. He was shot dead immediately by the police.

The agents spoke to their headquarters to confirm the address of the intervention. But police said they could not explain at this time why officers turned up at the wrong address. Video recordings then show the victim’s wife in front of the front door and more shots can be heard. According to the police, this woman shot the officers.

In a press release, local police chief Steve Hebbe said all his departments are aware of the “seriousness” of this case. “As the chief of police, I want to say how sorry I am that this tragedy has happened,” he added. The officers involved were suspended during the investigation.
