USA: Missing child found dead in alligator’s mouth, father arrested

The lifeless body of a young boy was found in an alligator’s mouth in Florida, USA, on March 31. His father, suspected of throwing him there after killing the mother, was arrested by police.

He’s been missing since the day before. A 2-year-old child was found dead March 31 in Florida, United States, trapped in an alligator’s mouth. According to authorities, the father, who is suspected of throwing his son there, has been charged with two counts of murder, including the murder of his wife.

The St. Petersburg Police Department said Taylen Mosley was found at Lake Maggiore (West) and her father, 21-year-old Thomas Mosley, was charged with the double murder of his infant son and wife Pashun Jeffery.

A major mobilization of the authorities

Since Thursday, the day she was found stabbed to death in her home, local, state and federal agencies, along with dive teams and agents, had organized drone searches to find the child as quickly as possible.

In fact, Jeffery and his son were last seen by family members around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police said neighbors heard a loud noise near their home around 8:30 p.m. without contacting authorities. It was Pashun Jeffery’s mother, worried about not hearing from her daughter the next day, who reported her missing.

However, while searching for the boy in the Dell Holmes Park recreation area and on Lake Maggiore, investigators saw an alligator with something in its mouth. When they realized it was the body of a child, they shot and killed the animal.

“As the detectives got closer, they fired a bullet at the alligator, which dropped the object and we were able to recover Taylen’s body intact,” Police Chief Anthony Holloway said while interviewing a Friday night news conference televised by Spectrum Bay News 9, in the Tampa Bay area. “We’re sorry it ended like this,” he added.

Investigators are now waiting for the coroner to examine Taylen Mosley’s body to determine the cause of death.
