USCIS Announces New Year's Dates Cuban Directory

People who have procedures to complete with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) should check the business days.

This agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sets the same days of rest as the rest of the country's government departments.

The USCIS is responsible for analyzing the immigration processes of aliens entering the country legally. Operations conducted by USCIS include granting North American citizenship and assisting with family reunification.

Other tasks of the USCIS include overseeing various humanitarian programs and overseeing adoptions. It is also a duty of USCIS to issue permits to immigrants so they can work in the country.

Before granting this right, the institution must check the characteristics of the applicants and then enter the results on the E-Verify website. This virtual DHS system allows companies to verify the suitability of employees to perform their job duties.

Activities will resume on January 2, 2024

The USCIS employs 19,000 federal employees working in more than 200 offices in various countries. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) designates the first day of January as a holiday.

With this guidance, users know that they are not allowed to visit USCIS until the second day of the next month.

Another important information to keep in mind is that the beginning of the New Year is celebrated on the last day of December.

The 31st day of the current month is Sunday and the seventh day of the week is a non-business day for USCIS. Almost all government employees rest on official holidays and these days are not deducted from their salary.

The OPM advises that the specified holidays are official holidays.
