Kampala, January 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil today called for political commitment to a strengthened and full realization of the South-South in his speech at the third summit of the Group of 77 (G77) and China that concluded -Collaboration in Kampala, Uganda.
He also called for ensuring a level playing field to facilitate cooperation between the South and the North and vice versa.
The senior Bolivarian diplomat explained that the G77 and China have the necessary knowledge and resources to achieve the consolidation of the right to development, thereby stopping depending on those who, out of selfishness, create “all kinds of obstacles and mechanisms “show” to halt our right to progress. .
Gil urged further work to restructure the international financial system, which would lead to its democratization and the “construction of a basket of currencies” for commercial exchange that would finally defeat the hegemony of the dollar.
In addition to building an international economic architecture that leads to decision-making among equals, with justice and solidarity, to guide the new and changing international financial institutions, he added.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister called for working to create mechanisms that will allow us to eliminate the financing conditions that make foreign debt “perpetual and unaffordable,” pointing out that we have already paid it several times and owe more every day .
He stressed the importance of “doing more to remedy this situation” and called for not allowing the use of “criminal, unjust and illegal unilateral coercive measures” and neo-colonial measures that slow down our development.
The head of Bolivarian diplomacy stated that Venezuela will continue to denounce the imposition of these measures by the United States and its satellite allies in the European Union and other countries.
He added that these so-called sanctions constitute restrictions and obstacles for the Venezuelan people in obtaining and fulfilling their economic, social and cultural rights.
Gil reiterated the illegality of these measures as they violate international law, constitute an obstacle to the right to development and limit the economic growth of States, therefore he called for their immediate repeal.
