The 48-year-old broadcaster shocked both viewers and judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan after impressing with his singing talents before being revealed as a koala.

He revealed his appearance on the show was an absolute secret and even his wife Strictly’s 53-year-old Tess Daly had “no idea”.

“But I’m a million percent not a singer. The hardest part for me was not laughing, and no, I didn’t choose to be a Witchetty Grub, it chose me.

However, the jury had a different opinion: “You can really sing,” said Jonathan and Rita as they all rose from their seats, stunned by their impressive performance.
