Vernon Kay was crowned the champion of The Masked Singer’s one-of-a-kind special Sunday night: I’m a Celebrity.
The 48-year-old broadcaster shocked both viewers and judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan after impressing with his singing talents before being revealed as a koala.
He revealed his appearance on the show was an absolute secret and even his wife Strictly’s 53-year-old Tess Daly had “no idea”.

After Davina asked if he’d told his family, including his two daughters Phoebe, 18, and Amber, 13, he said, “No, they’re watching this while we’re doing this.”

Vernon, who previously appeared at the ITV Camp in 2020, joked to host Joel Dommett that he lost “five stone” after spending the day dressed up in the giant koala costume.

He said, “You know what’s weird about being in that costume all day. I lost more weight on it than on I’m A Celebrity. I think I lost five stones.”
Gushing about his impressive singing, judge Jonathan Ross said, “Who knew you couldn’t sing”.
While Rita Ora lamented not having guessed his identity, “We’re so stupid”.

She completely shocked the jury as she removed her large mask and slapped Davina on the head in frustration, saying: “Reality TV show, duh”.
Alison told host Joel Dommett: “People actually forget I was on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ because I got there in the middle of the show.
“But I’m a million percent not a singer. The hardest part for me was not laughing, and no, I didn’t choose to be a Witchetty Grub, it chose me.
However, the jury had a different opinion: “You can really sing,” said Jonathan and Rita as they all rose from their seats, stunned by their impressive performance.
