Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante suffered a second bout of illness in less than seven months after she completely collapsed during a news conference Tuesday morning.
“Oh no, I’m not feeling well,” the mayor said half-heartedly before plopping down behind her lectern in City Hall.
A few seconds before her fall, Ms. Plante suddenly fell silent while answering a question from a journalist in English. She then sat on the floor with a pale face and downcast eyes. His team immediately came to help him.
“The mayor felt unwell at a press conference and is fortunately out of danger. She will receive the necessary medical support and thanks you for your support,” her office wrote on the platform X, formerly Twitter.

An ambulance was also sent to the scene of the accident, but the forty-year-old did not have to go to hospital.
Not the first time
Valérie Plante suffered the first illness of this kind on May 9th during the Montreal climate summit.
The Journal Métro reported at the time that the mayor had stayed away from a press conference due to her health. This time too, Ms. Plante was not admitted to the hospital due to complaints.

In a tweet published at the end of the day, Valérie Plante also mentioned that she had managed to get back on track.
“However, as a preventive measure and in order to get back into full shape, I have to reduce the pace of my activities in the coming days,” warned the mayor.
This morning I felt unwell during a press conference. Luckily I’m feeling better. Thank you for your kind words and support.
I was able to meet a medical team and am doing well. As a preventive measure and for complete recovery…
