Maude Cyr-Deschênes was worried that the song she had chosen for her duel with Caroline Allat on Sunday fell over The voiceHe doesn't emphasize the power of his voice.
The two musicians' trainer, France D'Amour, chose Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow. Even before rehearsals, the New Brunswick native from Edmundston – she has lived in Quebec since 2016 – was fine-tuning modulations, arrangements and harmonies in order to shine on stage.

Caroline and Maude performed solidly and all the coaches voted for Caroline. The latter was expected to advance to the next round, but France D'Amour chose Maude, which was the first surprise under the circumstances.
Since Maude loves singing and writing in her native French, Sheryl Crow's song may have been a problem from the start.
Maude comes from the only bilingual province in the country, which she believes does not prevent the French there from finding themselves in a “very precarious” situation.
“For me, French is super important. I really enjoy writing in my language. There is a wave of French speakers writing in English. I think it's a shame, even if they can do whatever they want. I speak French, that's how I express my feelings. I made it my mission to sing in French,” said Maude, who has done a lot of theater and starred in the miniseries Conséquences, filmed in New Brunswick.
Lack of trust?

Although France D'Amour praised Maude's crystal clear voice, she also pointed out a lack of confidence on her part. The main interested party denies that he was tormented by doubts.
“I don’t have trust issues, I thought it was funny that she pointed that out. It's just that I know my abilities and where I can shine. I felt like I didn't get to showcase my skills with Sheryl Crow's song.
Regardless, the 24-year-old young woman, who studied classical piano, jazz composition and now jazz singing at the University of Montreal, received great compliments from France D'Amour. “I feel like something sparkly and beautiful and charming is coming,” she said of Maude.
The latter is not new to the scene. At the age of 11, she starred in the musical The Melody of Happiness, directed by Denise Filiatrault. She returned to this world last year when she was one of the nuns and also the understudy to Audrey-Louise Beauséjour of the Star Académie.
She has two EPs to her credit, including the most recent, “Our Seasons.” And she has more than twenty new songs in her repertoire that she can't wait to record once she finishes her studies next December.
