Katy Vachon appeared at the blind auditions of The voice with the intention of showing what she had in her stomach, who always wanted to sing and who was told another time that she wasn't physically suitable for the job.
“They told me: 'You sing well, but you lack the profile, you lack the body, the teeth, the nose', and even: 'You sing too loud, it's no longer up to date.' Fashion,” said the 43rd -year-old woman who was once “suggested” to lose 100 pounds.

“I made an EP, I invested a lot of money, but it didn’t work because it was the packaging first and then the talent.”
However, Katy Vachon isn't bitter. “Maybe the only thing I regret is that I would have gone to school more. I had the ambition to do medicine, but I made different decisions with music.”
Mario blocked!
On Sunday, Roxane Bruneau, France D'amour and Mario Pelchat – who only needed a few seconds to turn his chair – turned around at La Voix during his spectacular performance of Aretha Franklin's (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman .

Mario blocked France to increase his chances of having Katy on his team, and he won his bet when she went for her youthful kick. He was interested in the three coaches, including Roxane, because of her inspiring, atypical career path.
“My blind audition was the most intense experience I have ever had in music,” she told QMI Agency.
Nevertheless, she is in her first experiences. Twenty years ago, in 2003, Rouyn-Noranda resident Katy Vachon took part in the very first edition of Canadian Idol. During her blind audition at La Voix, she was able to count on the energy of Audrey de Montigny in the studio. The latter went far on Canadian Idol and became Katy's accomplice on the plane that took her to the Queen City. Since then they have never lost the thread of their friendship.
Endurance and resilience
Katy Vachon showed perseverance and resilience after “Canadian Idol.” She settled in Montreal to pursue a career as a singer, but no real doors opened for her. Although she returned to her home region, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, she continued to campaign for the bill.

By day, she is an administrative technician for the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks – she was also sent into the field during last summer's massive forest fires – and sings in the acoustic trio “Helium le Evening”, and she often goes to karaoke and takes part in shows here and there.
“I let my tattoos out at night and I’m a different person,” she said with a laugh.
Great feelings when thinking about his deceased father
Katy Vachon began singing in bars and weddings at the age of 12 with her late father Gilles, who was a singer. She gets emotional when she talks about him.
“He would have been so proud of me. During my audition I had to think about everything but him, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to control myself. He hoped all his life that people would recognize me by my voice.”
Whatever happens at La Voix this season, Katy Vachon has decided to “make the most of the experience.” She no longer dreams of a career, but she enjoys every moment in which she makes her voice heard and lets people experience emotions.
