A referee was disfellowshipped in Sunday’s Frontier League game between the New York Boulders and the Tri-City ValleyCats.
Tempers heated up in the first inning when ValleyCats manager Pete Incaviglia accused the Boulders of stealing receiver signals.
One of the officials, Warren Nicholson, made his way to the Boulders dugout and a verbal altercation ensued with Tucker Nathans, a second baseman.
The referee ruled Nathans out of the game, but the two men continued to exchange pleasantries. Held back by his colleagues, Nicholson then lost control and shoved the Boulders player.
He left the game minutes later and was sent off by chief referee Reid Hoover.
