“When the coup happened on September 11, 1973, I cried and said to myself: one day I will have the opportunity to honor Allende as he deserves, and that day came,” the newspaper’s editor told Prensa Latina. Text Jorge Soto Veraguas.

The author welcomed the large turnout for the publication of the text, which coincided with the ex-president’s 115th birthday.

Marcia Tambutti, Allende’s granddaughter and chair of the board of directors of the eponymous foundation, recalled that 50 years after his death, his legacy is more alive than ever.

In statements to that agency, Tambutti said that the best tribute to Allende is to motivate people to keep engaging in the journey towards a society of well-being and social justice for all.
