Russian President Vladimir Putin will deliver a speech on the future of the Russian economy and world prospects at the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Friday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced the president would provide details on the impact of sanctions imposed on Russia, the rise in energy prices and the start of a food crisis.

“The President will share his assessment of the formation of a multipolar economic model and assess the opportunities and prospects that this process offers to participants from all over the world market,” said Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov.

Ushakov announced that Vladimir Putin will address the consequences of unfair competition between states and the resulting commercial and financial confrontations.

Meanwhile, the nation’s press secretary pointed to the speech’s leitmotif as the economy being “held hostage to politics” as part of the “perfect systemic storm” that has shaped the world panorama in 2022.

Advisor to the President added that forecasts for economic development, stimulating business activity and creating business conditions that will strengthen trade and investment with other countries of the world.

Kazakh President Kasym-Zhomart Tokáyev will be present with Putin at the forum’s plenary session and, like his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, will intervene via videoconference. A video message from Chinese President Xi Jinping will also be shown.

At the end of the speech, according to the Kremlin press secretary, the Russian head of state will respond to the concerns of the participants in the session.

Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with Presidents of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturián and Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokáyev later today.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will also turn on Chinese head of state Xi Jinping via video conference and video message.
