- Two days after the dam was destroyed, evacuations continue in the Kherson region from Kachowka, in southern Ukraine. As of Wednesday evening, more than 5,900 people had been evacuated from flooded areas : Nearly 1,900 by Ukrainian auxiliaries and more than 4,000, Moscow-installed authorities said. Thirty towns were flooded, including ten in the area controlled by Russian forces.
- White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said the United States is considering responsibility for the plant’s destruction, but blamed Moscow. “Russia has no place in Ukraine. This dam was under the control of Russia and bears responsibility for the destruction this war caused,” she said.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday lamented the lack of humanitarian aid from the United Nations and the Red Cross after the destruction of the dam. For his part, Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that “aid to meet immediate needs” of Ukraine would be sent “in the next few hours”.

- Ukrainian forces returned to the offensive on the outskirts of Bakhmout and recaptured 200–1,100 meters there, reported Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, on Wednesday. General Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of the country’s army, also reported progress on the Russian flanks.
- Since the beginning of the Russian offensive, 63 journalists from 14 nationalities have been killed. This was announced by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine on Wednesday, one day after the national press day.
