The Peruvian Interior Ministry ordered the “immediate” deployment of security forces at the border with Ecuador on Tuesday evening (September 1st). The aim of the campaign is to strengthen security in the country in view of the escalation of violence in Ecuadorian cities.
“The Minister of the Interior, Víctor Torres Falcón, ordered the immediate deployment of a contingent from the Directorate of Special Operations (Diroes) to reinforce security on the border with Ecuador,” announced the ministry’s official account on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
Violence in Ecuador
Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa declared an “internal armed conflict” in the country. The measure allows the use of the army and the national police against the actions of criminal groups.
The executive decision also classifies criminal groups as “terrorist organizations.”
Ecuador is experiencing an escalation of conflict in the country following the escape of 44yearold José Adolfo Macías Villamar, better known as Fito, who was appointed head of the Los Choneros faction.

Also this Tuesday, armed criminals broke into the studios of TC Televisión in the city of Guayaquil. The attack was televised and images showed employees being forced to lie on the floor.
