Weather Can we have a barbecue for Fathers Day

Weather: Can we have a barbecue for Father’s Day?

Whoever says Father’s Day also means barbecue dinner prepared by dad, but the weather could perhaps be a spoilsport this weekend.

Those who prefer to celebrate on Saturday will have to reconcile doing so indoors, while Sunday celebrations could take place outdoors, albeit under a few clouds. At least that’s what Environment Canada forecasts suggest.

A low-pressure area that developed on the coast of Maine is therefore likely to bring precipitation to southeastern Quebec on Saturday. As such, the atmosphere is likely to improve, particularly in the greater Montreal area where quality will return to better levels on Saturday.

The weather will remain cool and cloudy on Sunday, but the rain is likely to be more restrained overall.

“It won’t be a nice day, but the weather won’t affect outdoor activities,” said Jean-Philippe Bégin, meteorologist at Environment Canada. The latter explained that it would not surprise him if a few raindrops fell.

No rain helps with forest fires

It is likely to rain in the south-east of the province, but the scenario is not the same for the regions affected by the wildfires.

Additionally, with a good weather system set to materialize in the province, weather conditions will not be favorable for firefighters who are working hard to bring the blazes under control.

“The weather will not be an ally next week,” Mr Bégin concluded.
