Wednesday will have one second season. Netflix has given the much-anticipated official confirmation of Jenny Ortega’s return as the daughter of the Addamses, voiced by writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Finally, we are talking about one of the most watched series of all time on the platform, capable of exceeding a billion hours of watch time in about three weeks from its launch.
Wednesday is a series created by the aforementioned Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and in which Tim Burton served as executive producer and director of four of the eight episodes. It is a fantasy horror comedy starring the now teenage daughter of the Addams Family, created by Charles Addams in 1939.
There are no details on the plot of the second season, but we envision it continuing in the vein of the first, as reflected in the writers’ statement: “It was incredible to create a show that people from all over world brought together world. We look forward to continuing the arduous journey into Season 2 on Wednesday. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the bizarre and spooky world of Nevermore. We just have to make sure Wednesday didn’t empty the pool prematurely.”
Wednesday has become a global phenomenon since its launch (who doesn’t have a friend on social media who suddenly felt like Wednesday after watching the series?), the Goo Goo Muck by the Cramps becoming one of the most listened to songs on Spotify and could do with some scenes that have become cult, such as the dance. Too bad other series like 1899 didn’t have the same luck.
