Arlindo Cruz, 64, paraded at the Marquês de Sapucaí in Rio de Janeiro last Sunday (19). The singer was honored by Império Serrano and highlighted in the school’s last float.
The Sambista’s participation was due to his medical condition, having suffered a cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in 2017 and having multiple consequences. He was accompanied by a medical team during the parade.
Treatment with cannabis oil
After the stroke, the singer began treatment with cannabis oil to minimize the effects of the stroke.
Babi Cruz, Arlindo’s wife, commented on her Instagram that the treatment was having an effect, showing both physical and cognitive improvements.
“The treatment has already shown significant results, both physically and cognitively. This is just the beginning, poet. We are very hopeful,” he said.
“Disrespectful” living and chemical addiction
In an interview with Brito Podcast, Babi commented that her husband led a “disrespectful” life prior to the health issue. Drugs, drinks and overeating have always been present in the singer’s life.
According to her, Arlindo never had healthy habits and was a “life person”.
“[Ele era] Eating a lot, drinking, not having time, drugs,” he emphasized in the podcast.
He suffered from chemical addiction from an early age. Babi said that the artist was introduced to drugs at school.
“Drugs came into Arlindo’s life very early on, at school. Be careful, you who are listening to me, take care with your children at school that drugs are not only in samba, no. Drugs are in the best schools,” he warned of the interview.
