“Where we come from”: Quebec filmmaker Meryam Joobeur in competition at the Berlinale

The film Where we come from Montreal director Meryam Joobeur's first feature film will be in the 75th edition of the official competitione Berlinale.

Starring Salha Nasraoui, Mohamed Hassine Grayaa, Malek Mechergui and Adam Bessa, Where We Come From tells the story of a couple living in a remote village in northern Tunisia who are distraught over the departure of their two eldest sons, who have fled violence is Embrace of War.

Meryam Joobeur, a Montreal filmmaker of Tunisian origin, has already made a name for herself on the international stage by winning an Oscar nomination for Best Short Fiction in 2020 for her film Brotherhood.

The 75th Berlinale will take place in the German capital from February 15th to 25th.
