Sergey Sergeevich Razov, former Russian Ambassador to China and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, married, father of two children, settled in Rome on May 6, 2013 in Via Gaeta. The letter and enclosure were immediately rejected with contempt by Italian parliamentarians, and the escalation of a diplomatic crisis between Rome and Moscow was now inevitable.
After graduating in 1975 from the State Institute of International Relations of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Razov also received his doctorate in economics. His career as a diplomat began in 1990 as head of the Far East Indochina Branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the collapse of the USSR in December 1991, he retained his role in the dicastery and then became ambassador to Mongolia (from 1992 to 1996), Poland (19992002) to the People’s Republic of China (20052013).
He speaks Italian, English, Polish and Chinese well. The shrewd Razov has always preferred to work in secret, as his profession dictates, but he doesn’t mind the terraces of Rome. The ambassador Umberto Vattani, Maria Pia Ruspoli, the prince Maurizio Gonzaga del Vodice and still Guglielmo and Vittoria Giovanelli Marconi, the knight Manfredi Mattei of the Conti Filo still remember him in the Campidoglio, in October 2019, together with the Sforza princes della Torre , Razov at the microphone give the welcome speech for the Pushkin Prize organized by the cultural association Friends of Greater Russia. Razov is very proud of his honors: the modern Alexander Nevsky Order is a dark red fourpointed cross with twoheaded eagles between the ends. Remember the Battle of the Neva in 1240 when 20yearold Prince Alexander defeated the Swedes. By 1917, the official name of the award, introduced in 1725, sounded like this: Imperial Order of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. It was a gold cross covered with red enamel, in the center of the cross a round medallion representing the victorious prince. But perhaps the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation makes him prouder: a radiant fivepointed star in gold inside, in which is the image of the globe in colour, surrounded by a crown of olive branches. On the back is the inscription Мир и дружба, which means peace and friendship. So to speak.
