The first major Windows 11 update, version 22H2, introduces many changes and new features. There are also some practical and not necessarily highlighted tips.
Windows 11 22H2, released on September 20, brings several new features, including the ability to create folders in the Start menu and the return of “drag and drop” to the taskbar. We also find a new file explorer that offers tab support and a new sidebar.
Microsoft also introduces tips that are not necessarily documented. Some are not “minor” and can quickly become indispensable. Did you know that it is now possible to adjust the volume using the mouse wheel? The handling is very easy. The function is activated automatically as soon as the mouse pointer moves over the audio icon in the taskbar. This evolution does not require a mouse compatible with a multimedia mode. You can control and manage the audio volume using the wheel of any mouse.
It was first spotted with Windows 11 Build 22478, which was released in September 2021 via the Windows Insider program. It is now available for all Windows 11 22H2 users.
Windows 11, other new features are expected.
We know that Microsoft is working on more “in the blink of an eye” updates that will bring something new. “Moment” is the proprietary codename for the major cumulative updates that are deployed outside of feature updates. This change introduced with Windows 11 should make it possible to offer improvements and further developments more quickly.
For example, the first “in the moment” update added tabs and a sidebar to File Explorer. The next, Moment 2, is expected for the month of February or March. Rumors also refer to Moment 3 around May 2023. At the moment there is little information about its content. References to support for “Seconds after the taskbar clock” and improvements to the Task Manager have been discovered.
