If you want to go on a ski tour in Bella Italia, you must take complete avalanche equipment with you. You should also have a letter from your public liability insurer confirming that they will cover any damage. Otherwise you run the risk of being fined.

Since 2022

Since 2022, the law requiring you to carry a letter from the insurance company has been in force. It must be written in English or Italian and indicate that the insurance also covers damage to third parties in the event of an accident. Additionally, an extended helmet wearing requirement applies. Children and young people up to 18 years of age who wish to ski, snowboard and toboggan in Italy and South Tyrol must wear a helmet. This must be CE certified.

Heavy fines for drunks

If you ski drunk in Italy, it could cost you. If the alcohol content is higher than 0.5 per thousand, fines of between 250 and 1000 euros may be imposed. From 0.8 per thousand it is even considered a crime.
