With fall, warmedup show and twists, Primavera’s Live keeps the jokes going

The first Brazilian edition of Primavera Sound took place this weekend in São Paulo. The event was initially set to be streamed live on TikTok but multiple errors in the format were spotted on Sunday 6th.

At around 5:30 p.m., the transmission began to go haywire oscillating between being airborne and falling in the next hour or so. After a while with no news, a “We’ll be back soon” screen was placed, but even upon returning, the bug continued.

In the comments section of the Live on TikTok, the technical glitches turned into jokes. The online public joked a lot about the situation: “Is it because we are poor and didn’t pay for the ticket?” one asked. “This is xenophobia,” joked another during the Japanese breakfast show.

Artists veto shows

Another challenge for the production of Primavera Sound was the veto of some artists against the live transmission. On Saturday, the event was surprised by Björk and Arctic Monkeys, who decided at the last minute not to broadcast the shows live.

Sunday was more organized and the day started with an advance notice of shows that would not be aired. Travis Scott and Charlie XCX didn’t want to perform live but the production had time to create timespecific content.

rehashed show

Since the Arctic Monkeys aired late Saturday, rapper L7NNON’s concert was not broadcast live. Primavera Sound announced it would not air until Sunday. Later in the day, the event announced that L7NNON’s performance will fill the hole left by one of the shows vetoed by the artists.
