A rare accident. In New York, in the borough of the Bronx, A woman in her 50s was killed by the fall from a tree while swimming in a pool this Monday, August 15, reports Der Spiegel. The victim was taking her usual dip in a pool behind the apartments when the huge tree fell, hitting her and killing her instantly.
Another elderly woman who was in the pool at the time was also injured. She suffered physical trauma and was transported to Allen Pavillion Hospital in critical condition.
“Everyone was screaming, ‘Help! Help!’. My windows were open so I heard everything right away,” a woman who witnessed the crash told the New York Post, adding, “I looked down and saw the tree in the pool. I knew there were three or four people in there.”

The causes of the tree’s fall still remain a mystery, but according to the witness, there were several devastated by Asian hornets, but nothing was done despite complaints from local residents. The city’s green space department confirmed that the tree is not on public property and is the responsibility of the building owner.
