The Seattle Kraken have signed forward Kailer Yamamoto to a one-year deal.
This agreement will net him $1.5 million.
The Edmonton Oilers traded Yamamoto and Klim Klostin to the Detroit Red Wings Thursday in exchange for future consideration.
The Red Wings then bought out the forward’s contract. The 2017 Oilers’ first-round pick signed a two-year contract with the Alberta team in 2017, totaling $6.2 million.
The winger has 10 goals and 15 assists in 58 games in the 2022/23 season. He has only four points in twelve playoff games.
The 5’7″ forward has 118 points, including 50 goals, in 244 National Hockey League (NHL) games.
A native of Spokane, Washington, Yamamoto also played junior hockey with the Spokane Chiefs of the Junior League West.
