Young man falls from 4th floor of building while taking selfie on rooftop

After becoming a global sensation over the past decade, selfies have killed five times more people than shark attacks. And this trend is amplifying with the advent of accessories and the increasing sophistication of smartphones.

Although women take more selfies, teenagers account for three quarters of deaths. They die in collisions, drowning, falls or gun accidents.

A tragic accident involving a 15yearold girl has shocked residents of a building in the town of Ortaca, in western Turkey’s Mugla province. Melike Gun Kanavuzlar died after dropping his phone while taking a selfie on the building’s roof.
