A young woman from Ceará discovered that she was almost nine months pregnant just three days before giving birth in a private hospital in Fortaleza. The woman went to the emergency room on Monday (6) complaining of convulsions and was even diagnosed with a suspected ovarian tumor, but a pelvic ultrasound showed the baby and the delivery took place on Thursday (9).

“It was a surprise since I’m not in a relationship and it was almost born, but in 24 hours my family made the dowry, organized everything, adjusted the whole house and supported me in everything. In these 8 months I’ve been drinking , ate sushi, I ran and fell in heels, dyed my hair, took medicine, but God was so wonderful that she was born perfect,” the woman said.

According to her own statements, the young woman, who does not want to be named, had her last sexual intercourse in October 2021. Since then she has been menstruating normally, had no nausea or any significant weight gain until May of this year.

“From the beginning of May until now I’ve gained about 34 kilos, but my belly has grown very little, like ‘Beer Belly’ couldn’t hold the pee. She decided to go to the ER to see what it was,” the woman recalled.

During the service, the young woman, who suffers from endometriosis an inflammatory disease in which the tissue lining the uterus is deposited in regions such as the ovaries and intestines was suspected of having one based on previous cases in the family Diagnosed with ovarian tumor. However, an ultrasound changed her story.

“The doctor tried to do a transvaginal exam but couldn’t. Then when she did the pelvic ultrasound, she found the baby very close to my back, all stuck in the back of my body. The water that came out was my pierced pouch, pouch rota, then I was already in the hospital because I was about 35 weeks and 2 days old and I was going into labor any minute,” he said.

According to the young woman, the attending doctor considered postponing the birth until the 37th week of pregnancy. However, three days after admission, contractions and labor began.

“I spent about 3 hours in labor and had my baby born naturally, humanized, with my older brother as the duolo,” he recalls.

The child was born of normal birth at the age of eight months, measured 48 centimeters and weighed 2,865 kilograms. Since the mother did not undergo prenatal care, not knowing she was pregnant, the girl had to be admitted to the ward, where she underwent a series of tests.

The mother, who saw her daughter only during childbirth, was hospitalized until Saturday, awaiting her discharge and expecting to be reunited with the girl.

“I always dreamed of becoming a mother, but unfortunately I didn’t think I could because of my hormone problems. The suspicion of cancer left me speechless and to discover that I was actually a daughter was a miracle,” the woman said.

According to gynecologist Patrícia Gonçalves de Oliveira, this type of situation is rare and is called a “silent pregnancy”. The doctor treated two such cases. According to the gynecologist, it is more common in women with an irregular menstrual cycle.

“However, in relation to this type of pregnancy, which we call ‘silent pregnancy’, it rarely occurs. This type of pregnancy is more common in women who already have irregular menstrual cycles, who often go long periods without menses, but who ovulate at some point. “I don’t know that they ovulated and this pregnancy is occurring,” explained he.

The doctor reminds that many women are asymptomatic during “silent pregnancy”. “You don’t feel anything that a pregnant woman feels at the beginning of pregnancy. Common symptoms in pregnant women such as nausea, dizziness, malaise, weight gain. In these cases, people are asymptomatic because they are pregnant,” she said.
