Ross Kemp admitted that “the hardest job you’ll ever do is being a parent” as he discussed balancing family life and career in his new book.

The 59-year-old actor and documentary filmmaker married lawyer Renee O’Brien in 2012 and has three children, son Leo, eight, and twin daughters, six.

He is also the father of the first son Oliver from a previous relationship.

In his new book, Take Nothing For Granted: Tales From An Unexpected Life, he talks about his serious job and how humor and good luck helped him return to his loved ones.

Ross said: “I don’t expect sympathy.” You can’t come back and complain about conditions in a prison when she (Renee) has worked two jobs – one as a mother and one as a lawyer.

“If I wanted compassion and looked for it, I don’t think I would get very much – so there’s no point in asking.” And if your twin daughters criticize you for bringing the wrong socks, so be it : OK. . .

“I say it in the book: You think my job is hard, but the hardest job you’ll ever do is being a parent.” There is no roadmap – nothing is ever completely right. “You can read all the books in the world, but your child will not be the one in that book.”

To date, Ross has made more than 120 documentaries and shows no signs of stopping.

He recently filmed a Channel 5 series exposing life in some of South America’s toughest prisons and worked on a Sky History show about organized crime.

Ross has even added diving to his impressive career repertoire to film the Sky History series Deep Sea Treasure Hunter.

This came after Ross turned down a trip to Titanic on an OceanGate submersible after his television company decided the ship was “unsafe in all respects”.

He was keen to take part in a mission last year to make a documentary on the 110th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

After an expert production company carried out checks, it was concluded that it would be too risky to view the shipwreck on the seabed of the North Atlantic.

Kemp’s agent, Professor Jonathan Shalit, said they had decided not to use the Titan submersible because it was unsafe “in every way”.

He said he was relieved that Kemp did not board the Titan and that the company did not indicate that it was safe for him to do so.

Professor Shalit said: “I am relieved that Ross did not take part, but of course I am reassured by the professionalism of the companies we worked with that they did not suggest that he go on the submarine.”

“The well-known and reputable production company looked at the submarine and concluded that it was unsafe in all respects and was not ready to be used.”

“We were told, ‘It’s unsafe, we’re not going’ – that was a year ago.”

“It is deeply sad for the families who have suffered such a terrible loss.”

“The lesson we need to learn is to carry out your checks thoroughly.” “Fortunately the checks were carried out thoroughly.”

The U.S. Coast Guard expressed its “deepest condolences” to the families of the five men after the submersible’s stern cone was found about 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic wreck off the coast of Newfoundland.
