Israel x Hamas: Death toll exceeds 8,000 after 20 days of war

More than 200 foreigners have already died in the Middle East conflict; A new Israeli report shows that 224 people have been kidnapped by the Islamic group and are being held hostage

The number of deaths in the conflict between Israel It is Hamas, which has been taking place since October 7th. According to the new balance sheet from the Ministry of Health Gaza Strip7,028 people died in the enclave at the hands of Israeli bombers, including 2,913 children, 1,709 women and 397 elderly people, and 18,484 were injured. Israel, for its part, recorded 1,400 deaths in attacks by the Islamic group and reported on Thursday the 26th that the number of Hamas hostages was 224. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that at least 1,650 people were missing under the rubble of buildings destroyed by airstrikes, including 940 minors.

The victims of this conflict also include foreigners who have been killed, taken hostage, missing or waiting in the Palestinian enclave to leave the region and return to their country. Other countries also reported losses but did not provide figures. Germany says fewer than 10 Germans have been killed and there are “small doubledigit numbers” of hostages. Cambodia, Australia, Honduras, Azerbaijan, Ireland and Switzerland reported losing one of their citizens. There are no reports of missing people.

Despite the rising death toll, the bombings do not stop. According to an Israeli army spokesman, Israeli aviation has struck more than 250 Hamas “targets” in the last few hours, including “operational command centers, tunnels and rocket launchers in the heart of civilian areas.” The attacks occurred in the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip. These bombings were accompanied by a ground attack by tanks in the north of the enclave before the “next phases of the fight” began.

Gaza is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. 1.4 million people more than half the population have been displaced to the south of the Gaza Strip after Israel ordered the evacuation of the northern half of the Gaza Strip for security reasons. According to the latest figures from the Hamas Ministry of Health, which declared on Wednesday the total collapse of the health system, at least 101 doctors have died and 25 ambulances have been destroyed in Gaza since the war began, while 12 hospitals and 31 primary care centers are out of service due to bombings and fuel shortages.
