Emily Adonna, who lives in California, (pictured) says she’s “sick of being pretty” because of the “cons” of pretty privilege. In a series of TikTok videos, Emily claims she was sexually assaulted by a stranger and says people haven’t taken her seriously in the past

“I’ve never had a job where I wasn’t harassed. I’ve rarely been in social situations where I haven’t been harassed,” Emily claims.

“People don’t usually take ‘no’ for an answer from me because they think I’m something that needs to be owned.

“People don’t ask before touching me in public, I get grabbed regularly, I’ve been attacked by a stranger.”

Emily claims she once missed a business opportunity because others thought she was “too young and beautiful” and thought she would “distract other people in the industry.”

“I’ve never had a job where I wasn’t harassed. I have rarely been in social situations where I have not been harassed. People don’t usually take no for an answer from me because they think I’m obsessed,” claims Emily

Emily said she’s also noticed a difference in how others treat her when she’s fully dressed versus when she’s casual.

“I’m treated differently and it’s been day and night since I go out in public with a mask and ragged old oversized clothes and see how I am right now,” she said.

“If I look ragged, people don’t touch me, they don’t feel entitled to have me.”

In a follow-up video, Emily often claims, when disclosing negative experiences, that she asked questions like “What were you wearing?”, “Were you too nice?”. and ‘why were you alone?’

“It’s the idea that I’m entitled to this space because I’m present and pretty, or that I’m automatically associated with something sexual — that’s the part I don’t like,” she said.

“People say, ‘Well, you’re a model, so you should be used to the attention or you should want that attention. Are you doing it right for that?’, no.’

In a third video, Emily admitted that she’s so tired of being pretty that she decided to get a rose ring and hand tattoo that was “culturally meant to destroy beauty.”

Emily said she's also noticed a difference in how others treat her when she's fully dressed versus when she's casual.

The original video was viewed more than 279,000 times and the topic seemed to divide opinion.

“Girls who are not pretty by societal standards are also molested in most social and professional situations. It’s not a pretty side benefit of the privilege,” one person wrote.

“Why do pretty women think only pretty women get attacked?” commented another.

But a third woman stood up for Emily, writing: “So many haters here. They only hate you because you’re pretty; You partially prove your point without even realizing it.’

Another said: “Cons – everyone doesn’t take your pain seriously because you’re pretty so ‘it’s not that bad’ and they don’t really care because they’re jealous.”

“Valid – everyone has problems. Everyone deserves to be heard without comparison,” added another woman.
