The snow reaches very low levels ssa Collserola or Begues

Snow over 200 meters and severe winter cold with temperatures between six and eight degrees below the season. This is how the week begins this Monday in Catalonia, where a disturbance has left snow at very low levels where it hadn’t snowed in decades. In Barcelona, where all the equipment has been prepared in case of snow falling on the streets, the snow has reached thicknesses of up to four centimeters in Collserola and some mountain districts, but it has passed through most of the city. The roads of La Rabassada and the one that connects Horta to Cerdanyola remained closed between dawn and 7:00 a.m. but are now open.

Outside the capital, snow has affected the Vallès Occidental region, with snow in the two capitals, Terrassa and Sabadell; and on its way south, the storm has also left whitish images in places like Gavà, Castelldefels or Garraf. And in Begues (Baix Llobregat) the snow has reached five centimeters, upsetting some trees and making it necessary to shorten the road to Olesa and Gavà early in the morning. It also snowed early in the morning in the capital Tarragona, although it has not yet set.

From this Sunday, the Civil Defense of the Generalitat maintains the alert phase of the Special Snowfall (Neucat) Emergency Plan, activated given the snowfall forecasts on the coast and central precoast of Catalonia. The agency has reported snowfall on the coast and offshore, with forecasts for snow to continue in the coming hours, particularly in the Tarragona regions. He also detailed that this early morning snow had accumulated between three and five centimeters in some places, such as in Begues (Barcelona) or at the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona.

The Journal in the Netherlands: a very specific destination for Canadian women

HEERENVEEN, The Netherlands | Valérie Maltais and her team pursuit accomplices have one goal in mind and that is to bring home the only title missing from their rich tally.

Reunited in the fall of 2018, the Maltais, who began their transition to long course after a great career on the short course, Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann won Olympic gold at the Beijing Games last February and clinched the cumulative World Cup title for the past three years.

The 2021 World Championship is the last competition where they didn’t reach the top step of the podium. The Japanese had won gold in the Heerenveen bubble back then.

“It’s clear that we want to win the world title and we don’t hide our goal,” Maltais summed up after a team pursuit training session. We know we can win and we have confidence, but we don’t take anything for granted. Every race is a new beginning and you feel the anxiety and fear of not winning. »

“Despite our successes, we keep an open eye to continue the skater from La Baie. We have to make sure we’re performing at our best. At the World Championships we want to have our best race, the one where we perform best. »

As reigning world champions, the Japanese present a different direction and no longer show their former presence due to the retirement of one of their best skaters. The Americans and Dutch are the Canadians’ main competitors.

Chemistry always to the point

Unlike in the four years before the games in Beijing, the trio no longer meets regularly. Blondin and Weidemann are based at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, while Maltais has moved to Quebec and trains at the Ice Centre. A few training camps and the days before the competitions let the skaters work together.

Justified fears at the beginning about the cohesion of the team dissipated over the months and Maltais felt sensations in training on Friday that she had not had all year.

“I clapped my hands after training, I was so happy,” she said. This is the first time this year that I’ve felt this good skating with my head in Isa’s buttocks. I rediscovered feelings I haven’t had since the start of the season. »

Weidemann had her doubts, but she feels the Canadian trio have improved over the course of the season.

“It’s working better than I thought it would,” she said. We surprised ourselves at the first World Cup of the year in Norway. We skated together for four years and realized that we wouldn’t lose everything that quickly. It’s quietly back to our best level. »

“The three of us are pretty nervous because it’s the only gold medal we haven’t won yet. »

A mental preparation that inspires Fiola

Christopher Fiola at the Canadian Speed Skating Championships on October 13, 2022 in Quebec.

File photo, Stevens LeBlanc

Christopher Fiola at the Canadian Speed Skating Championships on October 13, 2022 in Quebec.

Christopher Fiola will be skating with a huge weight off his shoulders at the World Championships.

Against a less than ideal background, plagued by colds and plagued by doubts, Fiola achieved his big goal of the season by securing his ticket to the World Cup at the last World Cup of the year in Poland last Sunday.

After a difficult race last week in which the other two Canadians who fought with him defeated him, Fiola felt the need to turn to his mental coach, Alain Vigneault, the day before his one-night race.

“My conversation with Alain was good and helped me calm down,” he said. He put things into perspective and told me to trust myself. He helped me a lot with my preparation. I’m the type who puts a lot of pressure on myself with big expectations. »

Fiola had faced a similar situation while attempting to reach his standard of 34.90 required by Speed Skating Canada.

After finding success in Calgary in March and the pressure easing, he set a career best the next day with a time of 34s 44.

“The pressure is down now and no matter what is going to happen to the world, it will not be the end of the world, he envisioned. It’s my last competition this year and I’ll give it my all. »

favorable context

Grégor Jelonek believes that the world context lends itself much more to good performance.

“If he’s not expected, he runs free,” explained the experienced coach. Despite the pressure, he had a good race on ice in Poland that doesn’t favor little guys like him. »

“He could have crashed after the first race but he qualified and is going in the right direction. He is assailed by doubts and that is one of his weaknesses. He works a lot with Alain Vigneault. »

Learn to be consistent

After a strong start and two top 8 finishes in Europe, he had more difficulties in Calgary and it was difficult in Poland. Jelonek finds it normal that Fiola went through a learning phase.

“There are no guarantees and you have to fight,” he summarized. You have to burn every time you start. It is something that is learned and some take several years to settle in. It’s not easy being on fire all the time. You have to find the strength within yourself because nothing is given to you for free or served on a silver platter. »

A move that flatters him across the board

Grégor Jelonek shared some nice news about Valérie Maltais, who he has been working with since moving to Quebec.

“I’m very proud of her,” said the veteran. She showed great courage to leave Calgary and find herself with a new coach, a new environment and new training partners. She dared and it was worth it. »

To be closer to their respective families, Maltais and her fiancé, Jordan Belchos, left Calgary for the province of La Belle. The recent opening of the Ice Cream Center and the crazy real estate market in the metropolis have spoken in Quebec’s favour.

“When you make a choice of the heart, happiness is guaranteed,” Maltais said. It was a decision for us, for our couple and skating was the second element. »

After a smooth start to the season, Maltais won his first career individual medal last Sunday at the last World Cup of the season in Poland. A goal she has had since the beginning of the year.

“Valérie took a little time to trust herself, but now she has found her way and recognizes her worth,” explained Jelonek. She had been waiting for this medal in the mass start for four years, and now it’s done. »

The professional marriage between Maltais and Jelonek fulfills both sides. “When I first started long track in Calgary, I listened and followed what I was told. I’m still listening but I’m very confident and understand my needs better. There is good communication and we make adjustments along the way. On the short track I had to do one thing or I was a bad athlete. »

A medal in sight

Would it be realistic to get back on the podium at the World Championships where they start on day one on Thursday when the 3000m is on?

“Yes, winning a medal in the 3000m is realistic and top 5 would be fantastic. I made mistakes in my last 3000m and can’t wait to do it again. All the girls will be there and it’s hard to predict but I’ll walk off the ice with a smile if I get the race I want no matter what. »

“In the mass start, I will keep the same approach to chase the silver medalist in the 3000m relay at the Sochi 2014 Games. I have good energy and am in a good state of mind. I’ve had some ups and downs this season, but I’ve kept a positive attitude and made good progress. »

Lattes are very popular and there are many alternatives to coffee with milk. Entrepreneur Elisabeth Rioux is making lattes trendier than ever with her Tasti range, lattes that combine functional ingredients (collagen, probiotics, etc.) with decadent seasonal flavors (chocolate-covered strawberries, red velvet, chocolate hazelnuts…). For its part, Seta offers a variety of milk coffees (turmeric, matcha, lavender and beetroot) with essentially organic and vegan ingredients. I love his turmeric latte, which combines turmeric with black pepper and ginger. As for the Siffleux, they’re rethinking the hot morning drink to offer an alternative to coffee with roasted cranberries.

Although Carlos Compagnucci won’t be on the bench due to his ejection from the Classic, the coach is preparing a few variations to change the rhythm of the team and get the three points at the Mansiche Stadium. One of those aiming to integrate the starting XI against the Trujillo squad would be Aldo Korso.

SAG Awards 2023: Aubrey Plaza is caught losing her temper on stage during White Lotus’ victory

Audrey Plaza was caught seemingly losing her temper on stage while her White Lotus castmates accepted the SAG Award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Despite her hit TV show being one of the most competitive categories of the evening, the 38-year-old actress was accused of looking “annoyed” and “pissed off” as she stood alongside Theo James, Meghann Fahy and Will Sharpe Jon Gries.

While it’s unclear what upset the Parks and Recreation alum, Gries was seen whispering something in her ear that many believed may have warned her she was about to have a wardrobe malfunction.

After their conversation, she immediately matched her daring gold gown with a criss-cross halter neckline that revealed much of her underbust.

Their moody behavior coincided with As F. Murray Abraham’s speech, which ended with him sending a “prayer to the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey and a prayer for peace in Ukraine and Russia” and “Union forever shouted.

As the audience erupted in applause and the cast of White Lotus congratulated each other with big hugs, Plaza seemed to awkwardly say “Jesus Christ” to himself.

Along with her on-screen husband, Will Sharpe, she was one of the first of the cast to leave the stage as many of her co-stars were still hugging.

Her actions confused many fans on social media as they took to Twitter to discuss her mannerisms.

“What was she upset about?” asked one Twitter user, while another asked “why” she was “so crazy about winning for White Lotus.”

A third insisted the performance “seemed REALLY pissed off” and that “there was something really weird about her on stage with the White Lotus team”.

“She even left the stage quickly and alone instead of staying with the cast,” they continued.

Another couldn’t help but point out that it seemed like Plaza “looked like she was haaaaaas up there and immediately ran off the stage while everyone in the cast congratulated and hugged each other.”

However, she later appeared in better spirits as she posed for a goofy snap with Sharpe and for a group photo with the cast.

Everything Everywhere All At Once nearly swept the film categories at the 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night as Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan all took home awards, while Brendan Fraser enjoyed his comeback moment with a tearful speech when he deserved the highest honor.

The American absurdist comedy-drama film also received the night’s top honor for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the star-studded event, held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, California.

The film struck a star cast including: Babylon, The Banshees Of Inisherin, The Fabelmans and Women Talking.

Yeoh, Curtis and Quan all made brief speeches before allowing “patriarch and friend” James Hong to take the mic for most of the closing acceptance speech.

The 94-year-old acting legend said: “I got my first SAG card 70 years ago. My first film was with Clark Gable, but back then I have to tell you that the lead role was played by guys with their eyes taped shut and they talked like that because the producer said Asians aren’t good enough and they don’t make the box office. but look at us now, huh?

Goofy: Later, however, she showed her goofy side when she posed for photos with husband Will Sharpe

“We’re not all Chinese, but Jamie Lee is a good Chinese name… I feel a lot like her and I’ve never had such a good time with those jerks in the movie.”

The film revolves around a middle-aged Chinese immigrant named Evelyn Wang (played by Yeoh) who is drawn into a mad adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she has could have led.

Yeoh, 60, became the first Asian actress to receive Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Leading Role when she triumphed over: Cate Blanchett – Tar, Viola Davis – The Woman King, Ana de Armas – Blonde and Danielle Deadwyler – Till.

Earlier in the night, Jamie Lee Curtis, 64, gave Yeoh a big hickey just after her name was announced as the winner of the Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress category.

Curtis won an impressive field including: Angela Bassett – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hong Chau – The Whale, Kerry Condon – The Banshees of Inisherin and Stephanie Hsu – Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Meanwhile, castmate Ke Huy Quan earned Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for the same American absurdist comedy-drama film.

The 51-year-old actor got emotional as he revealed he was the first Asian male actor to ever win the award.

Though Everything Everywhere All At Once received four of the top five film awards, Brendan Fraser emotionally continued his comeback tour when he received top honors, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, for The Whale.

Other ensemble nominees included The Bear (which also received a nomination for star Jeremy Allen White) and Hacks (which received an additional nod for its star Jean Smart).

Christina Applegate and Rachel Brosnahan rounded out the female nominees for Dead To Me and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, respectively.

Television films and small series actors were also honored, but only with individual nominations.

Taron Egerton and Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser received nominations for Blackbird, while Evan Peters and Niecy Nash were both nominated for the spooky thriller Dahmer.

The 54-year-old veteran actor broke down in tears during his acceptance speech as he said: “I appreciate that, but never more than I appreciated what I used to keep in my wallet, which was my SAG card, which I earned in 1991 . It made me feel like I belonged.

“As actors we all want to belong to a tribe and that’s when I found where I belong. And if you’d told that guy back then that I was standing right here right now, I wouldn’t have believed you.”

Fraser triumphed over Austin Butler – Elvis, Colin Farrell – The Banshees Of Inisherin, Bill Nighy – Living and Adam Sandler – Hustle.

In The Whale, Brendan portrays Charlie, a reclusive, morbidly obese English teacher trying to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter.

The White Lotus was the biggest winner on the television side as the HBO series won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series as well as Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Drama Series for Jennifer Coolidge.

The 61-year-old veteran actress got emotional when she recalled a childhood anecdote during her acceptance speech at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The White Lotus star, 61, won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Tanya in Season 2 of the hit HBO series.

In accepting the honor, the actress first thanked the show’s creator, Mike White, before getting emotional as she spoke about her “amazing parents” and how they inspired her to take action.

Coolidge won against Elizabeth Debicki – The Crown, Julia Garner – Ozark, Laura Linney – Ozark and Zendaya – Euphoria.

The HBO series won the Ensemble Award ahead of Better Call Saul, The Crown, Ozark and Severance.

Protesters storm Surinames parliament as anti austerity rally turns chaotic

Russian military plane blown up near Minsk: Belarusian partisans – Portal

February 27 (Portal) – Belarusian anti-government activists have claimed responsibility for a drone strike on a Russian A-50 surveillance plane at an airfield near the Belarusian capital Minsk on Sunday.

“Those were drones. The participants in the operation are Belarusians,” Aliaksandr Azarov, head of Belarusian anti-government organization BYPOL, was quoted as saying on the organization’s Telegram messaging app and on Polish news channel Belsat.

“You are safe now, out of the country.”

Portal was unable to independently verify the report of the attack. There was no official confirmation from Russia or Belarus, and there was no immediate response from their defense ministries to requests for comment.

Belsat is a Polish channel that focuses on Belarusian news, which Minsk has branded as extremist. BYPOL, which includes former law enforcement officials who support opposition politicians, has been branded a terrorist organization.

Franak Viacorka, an adviser to Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, said in a post on Twitter it was the most successful act of sabotage since early 2022.

Two explosions during the attack on the Machulishchy air base near Minsk damaged the front and middle parts of the plane and the radar antenna, BYPOL reported.

The Beriev A-50 aircraft, which bears the Mainstay NATO reporting name, is a Russian airborne early warning aircraft with airborne command and control capabilities and the ability to track up to 60 targets simultaneously.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began a year ago, there have been several acts of sabotage in Belarus and in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine, particularly in the railway system.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has not been directly involved in Russia’s war against Ukraine, but he did allow his forces access to the territory as a base at the start of the invasion a year ago.

Russia and Belarus established a joint military unit in Belarus and held numerous exercises. A number of Russian fighter jets and airborne early warning and surveillance aircraft have been deployed to Belarus.

“I am proud of all Belarusians who continue to resist Russian hybrid occupation of Belarus and fight for Ukraine’s freedom,” Tsikhanouskaya wrote on Twitter.

Belarusian human rights group Vyasna said on Monday that a woman was arrested in Machulishchy, but the reason and her whereabouts were not known.

There was no information on whether the arrest was related to the alleged sabotage of the plane.

Arrests are common in Belarus for petty offenses such as comments on social media, particularly after Lukashenko crushed mass pro-democracy protests in 2020 and jailed all opposition leaders or forced them to flee abroad.

Nissan Raises Global EV Targets to increase US localization

Nissan Raises Global EV Targets; to increase US localization

TOKYO, Feb 27 (Portal) – Nissan Motor Co Ltd (7201.T) on Monday raised its electric car sales targets and said it would ramp up powertrain production in the United States as it seeks to enter a newer-dominated segment to catch up with automakers like Tesla Inc (TSLA.O).

The Japanese automaker pioneered electric vehicles (EVs) with its all-battery Leaf, but has struggled in the face of increasing competition from nimbler new entrants alongside many older automakers.

Nissan is now aiming for electrified vehicles — which include its advanced electric-powered hybrid cars — to account for over 55% of global sales by fiscal 2030, up from a previous target of 50%, it said.

The automaker plans to have 27 new electrified vehicles by this year, 19 of which will be battery-only electric vehicles, it said in a statement. This compares to his previous plan of 23 electrified vehicles, including 15 battery-only electric vehicles.

In addition to EV production at its Smyrna, Tenn., plant, Nissan plans to build electric powertrains at its Decherd plant in the same state to meet the requirements of the Inflation Reduction Act, Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta also said Monday.

Jamie Lee Curtis SAG Awards Speech: Not Just a ‘Nepo Baby’

Jamie Lee Curtis took center stage at today’s SAG Awards, causing a stir after boasting multiple times about being the ‘Nepo baby’. While accepting her Best Supporting Actress award for Everywhere at Once, the star made the audience laugh and tear with a breathtaking speech – proving that Jamie Lee is everyone.

The splashy Hollywood event kicked off with a montage of actors sharing the stories that led to their fame (and thus their SAG membership), including Curtis.

“I got my SAG card when I was 19 when I signed a seven-year contract with Universal Studios and starred in an ABC television series called Operation Petticoat,” Curtis said, adding, “which my father, Tony Curtis — Nepo baby! – played the main role. I got fired from that TV show a year later and I thought my life was over.”

As we all know, Curtis’ acting career was far from over as she starred in John Carpenter’s horror classic Halloween and more recently bestowed the favorite Everywhere All At Once. Curtis snagged victory at Sunday night’s awards show for playing cranky IRS agent Deirdre in the A24 action comedy, while also being nominated against co-star Stephanie Hsu.

After yelling “Shut up!” Curtis kissed film star Michelle Yeoh on the lips and took the stage to loud cheers from her colleagues’ room. But she had none of it: “Come on!” she cried, winning more love from the crowd. “Well, I didn’t mean ‘come’ anymore, I meant ‘come’ like that,” she joked.

“I’m wearing the wedding ring my dad gave my mom,” Curtis continued. “By the way, they hated each other. But my sister Kelly and I were born out of love. My father was from Hungary and my mother from Denmark. They had nothing and became these monstrous stars in this industry that they loved so much. My parents were actors.”

Jamie Lee, the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, has been open in recent months about her disdain for recent nepotism discourse. In a post on Instagram, Curtis said New York Magazine’s polarizing Nepo Baby article was “designed to try to belittle, denigrate and hurt.”

Now, however, the actress has a certain sense of humor about the whole affair — though she’s still fighting back.

“I know you’re looking at me and you’re like, well, ‘Nepo baby. That’s why she’s here.” And I totally get it,” Curtis said upon accepting her first SAG award. “But the truth is, I’m 64 years old and that’s just amazing.”

While some thought that Curtis would share the vote with Hsu, leading to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress Angela Bassett’s awards season leading up to the Oscars in two weeks, this win has pointed the Oscars in the direction of Everything Everywhere All at Once inclined. The race for best supporting actress is tighter than ever – can Angela Bassett do the thing?
