Charlotte Cardin: Music helped her overcome her fears

Walk through the chalet The true natureSunday, Charlotte Cardin made some confidences about the anxiety disorder that severely affected her in her youth.

“I've been pretty anxious my whole life. In 6th grade, I didn't go to school for two months. “I was really in a kind of childhood depression,” she told Jean-Philippe Dion, adding that professional help and music helped her overcome it.

Discovered at La Voix in 2013, the songwriter, who won four Juno Awards in 2022 with her first album Phoenix, also admitted that she waited several years after taking part in the show before offering her material because she felt distracted and that the offers she received were not like her.

“All the real work for me started the day The Voice ended. I didn't even know that much about who I was as an artist. I thought, 'You've heard me sing five covers and suddenly this is the big deal,'” she recalls.

“It was so wrong for me because it wasn’t what I wanted to do at all,” the singer continued.

The latter spoke about the relationship he had with his brother Vadim, who died at the age of 17 in a traffic accident while on his way to the set of the series 15/A (15/Love) in Saint-Césaire in Montérégie was , and the backlash he felt for playing the “bad guy” in the teen series Tactics.

He also confided to Jean-Philippe Dion that his father Jean-Paul had been a kind of matchmaker between him and Charlotte.
