BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) — China has achieved its key economic and social development goals and tasks for 2023 despite numerous internal and external difficulties and challenges, said the government work report submitted to the panel for consideration on Tuesday.
According to the report, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.2 percent last year, making the country one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.
China created 12.44 million urban jobs in 2023, with an average urban unemployment rate of 5.2 percent. The consumer price index rose 0.2 percent and a fundamental equilibrium in the balance of payments was maintained, the document said.
