The artist recently released her new single titled “El Honor” and since last year she released several songs like “Mi problema” and “Todo”. Chiquis has dedicated herself to one of her great passions: music.
It wasn’t easy for Chiquis to break into the music scene. In a recent episode of her podcast, Chiquis and Chill, she noted that her mother warned her it was a very tough market, especially as a woman.
“My mother told me that it would be better if I pursued face modeling or acting. She stressed to me that since it’s a male-controlled industry, it’s very hard for a woman to break through in regional Mexican music,” she said of the moment she told her mother about her intention to become herself to devote to music.
“I was planning to start a band where I would be the singer and my mom would be the manager, but we never did because my mom’s career was really taking off and she was very busy,” he said. It wasn’t until 2011 that Chiquis made the decision to become a singer, but shortly after she gave up her desire due to two events that shaped her life.
“I started taking singing lessons in 2011, but then I took a break, first because my mother cut ties with me and I looked very bad, and then because she died. It wasn’t until 2014 that I resumed singing lessons, paying $500 an hour with Demi Lovato’s singing teacher,” she said.
In October 2012, Jenni Rivera severed all possible ties with her daughter after accusing her of sleeping with her husband Esteban Loaiza. Mother and daughter were never able to reconnect after the artist died in a plane crash in December 2012.
