Earlier this month, Leni broke her silence on the backlash she received for posing in lingerie for the Italian brand with her supermodel mother, Heidi.
When asked about criticism of the campaign from social media users, Leni, who recently moved to New York City from California for college, said it didn’t affect her opinion of the photoshoot.
Controversial: Earlier this month, Leni broke her silence about the backlash she received for posing in lingerie for the Italian brand with her supermodel mother, Heidi
“I honestly haven’t looked at a lot of reactions,” she admitted. “I’m happy with the campaign overall and had a fantastic day with my mum.”
She also gushed that she thought “the photos turned out great” and that she “had a great time.”
Leni insisted she “disregards” negative feedback and is grateful to be working on a shoot with her mother, who she describes as her “inspiration.”
“Just the advice she gives me, the way she works, everything about her, I can always go on,” the teen told Page Six at her mother’s annual Halloween party. “I love filming with her.”
Earlier this month, Howard Stern called the mother-daughter lingerie campaign inappropriate on his SiriusXM show.
“I looked at it and I was like, ‘This is so damn out of line. It’s so inappropriate. But you can’t stop looking at it,’ he said.
The radio and television personality continued, “It looks like a guy’s [personal] Fantasy. They kiss and hold each other. And they cavort.’
People on social media also chimed in to say the shoot was “gross,” while one Twitter user wrote, “Sexualizing your daughter once they go legal is weird.”
“I wouldn’t model sexy lingerie with my mom,” tweeted another.
“I honestly didn’t look at a lot of reactions,” admitted Leni. “I’m happy with the campaign overall and had a great day with my mum”
However, others pointed out that the campaign was “classy” and her underwear had more coverage than most swimsuits.
“Your daughter is 18… of legal age… they are both BEAUTIFUL and the only reason for the negative comments is 100% pure jealousy!” wrote a fan of the duo on Instagram.
The Intimissimi campaign was led by Hayo in Los Angeles and launched on October 10th.
Leni’s biological father is Heidi’s ex Flavio Briatore. However, singer Seal legally adopted her in 2009 after tying the knot with the Making The Cut star in 2005.
After almost seven years of marriage, Heidi filed for divorce in 2012, which was finalized two years later in 2014.
Her daughter has followed in her mother’s footsteps and made a name for herself in the modeling world.
She recently stunned on a new magazine cover for Hunger and had features in Vogue Germany and Glamor Germany as well as at Milan Fashion Week last month.
Proud: She also gushed that she thought “the photos turned out great” and that she “had a great time”.
The social media personality, who has 1.5 million followers on Instagram, recently left home to move to New York City to start her freshman year.
Heidi opened up about her feelings about being far away from her daughter in a recent interview on The Late Late Show With James Cordon.
“It’s so sad,” admitted the America’s Got Talent judge. “She just moved in this weekend and I’ll call her. Normally she picks up, but then I don’t hear anything for three or four hours.”
‘And my head goes, ‘Where is she? What is she doing? Why isn’t she answering?’ The worries are already beginning,” revealed Heidi.
The supermodel stated that she called Leni once every two hours. “Now I want the roommate’s number so I can bug the roommate if she doesn’t answer,” Heidi explained humorously.
During an interview with Extra TV last year, Leni opened up about a modeling tip she received from her mother, Heidi, when she first started in the industry.
“She’s always telling me I need to have fun, and she’s always like, ‘Hop around, be fun, be energetic, be excited,'” the star explained.
The media personality also explained that while both her mother and herself enjoy the modeling and fashion industry, their style choices are the complete opposite.
“She calls it grungy,” says Leni, talking about how Heidi perceives her very personal fashion. “I just call it oversized… never catch me in super skinny jeans because I don’t like wearing uncomfortable stuff.”
